Can We Please Support Sacramento, too?

If you know me very well, then you know that I’m all about being positive and expecting the best. I totally believe in the laws of karma (what comes around goes around), and even a bit about the law of attraction (what you focus on expands). AND, I normally don’t pick my posts as places to vent….in fact, I really don’t vent much, so hopefully I don’t get too much grief for this.

Politics has never been my cup of tea. Mainly, because I think for the most part, it’s all a dog and pony show. I do, however, keep up to speed on all things real estate related as far as what’s in the news and new legislation and laws and trends that may have an impact on Sacramento Home Buyers and Sellers.

All that aside, I’m not even going to pretend to understand all the not so smooth moves going on with federal funding right now. The big guys in fancy cars are making rules, breaking rules, and who in the heck knows what else is going on. What happened in Haiti was a tragedy. I have been saying my prayers every night since the earthquake for all those people who lost their families. Nothing could be more sad, really.

However (and here’s where I may get some grief), while I’m proud I live in a country that seeks to reach out and support another country, especially when it is suffering as the earthquake victims, but what about taking care of our own?

I’ve got friends who have been out of work for a year. I see more people losing their homes every day than I can keep track of. These are good people. People who have worked their whole lives, have families and pay taxes. How come we can’t help them?

Now before you call me Pollyanna, just hear me out. We’re supposedly busted flat in Baton Rouge here in the USA, so that people, tax payers I will say once again, are outta work or otherwise outta luck, we got no funds to help them.  So, I do my best as a Sacramento real estate professional to support my community up close and my industry at large. I host a radio show that takes a ton of time and I don’t accept paid sponsors. I help Sacramento businesses promote themselves and love doing it. I try to support sellers who have to sell but don’t want to and buyers who don’t have clean enough credit, learn how they can up their credit score. I try and do my part.

But would someone tell me where we had an extra hundred million or so that we can send to help earthquake victims, when we can’t even help our own tax-paying people?

Ta ta for now,
Tamara
